Expectancy of Life Beyond the Grave

My teacher of the western literature course I am taking asked me write about if “The Little Flowers of St. Francis of Assisi provided the common man with confidence about his own life beyond the grave.” According to my teacher “there was no preaching about how to avoid purgatory for the common man.” So, the book did not provide any knowledge about whether or not a man was going straight to heaven or not. I completely agree with this conclusion.

By reading The Little Flowers of St. Francis of Assisi a person would not be encouraged by reading this book; on the contrary, a person would be very depressed if he were to think about his life after death because according to what he read the chances of his going straight to heaven would be quite slim.
