The Carolingian Renaissance

The Carolingian Renaissance was one of the first renaissances in this world’s history. It was significant because of its preservation and construction of the wonderful works of ancient Greece and Rome. It occurred around the 770s and lasted until c.840, under the reign of Charlemagne. During this period education was highly encouraged and many schools were built. A new form of writing called Carolingian minuscule was developed, it consisted of punctuation marks and lower case and capital letters instead of all capital letters and no punctuation of the previous writing. The Carolingian Renaissance wasn’t the most famous renaissances but, it did have a significant effect on history.
