The Aeneid

The basic story of the epic Aeneid is about a Trojan warrior, Aeneas, who fleas Greece after the war, with his father on his back, he finds Rome and, it is said that he later founded Rome.

I believe that this great epic probably was used to exercise political propaganda since, in a way, it praises Augustus as a ruler because his adopted family is known to be descendants from Aeneas. Also, it helps the Roman people to continue to have faith in Rome’s glory, virtue, and great ruler.

Even though the Aeneid has some propaganda we still see it as a wonderful piece of literature from the Golden Age of literature.
