There are quite a few memorable events in Washington’s autobiography. For example, it is quite hard to forget the fact that the institute was started in a shanty. Whenever it rained one his students offered to hold an umbrella over him while he taught, this was very similar when he ate breakfast when it rained. They also had many bake sale fund raisers to assist in the growing of the institute, even the poor residents of Tuskegee contributed to their project, some gave all they had. Though many times they were in debt they were always provided for just in the nick of time! God was the main provider for Washington and the institute, he was in control.
